Facebook has made its social network iPad friendly by accommodating friend requests and status updates on the swipe and pinch touchscreen of Apple's tablet .
Facebook also launched its long-awaited iPad app and opened its platform to all mobile developers , creating a broad alternative for engineers to build mobile Facebook features outside Apple's dominant Apps store .
Encouraging developers to build on both platforms sends a healthy customer base to Apple and enables millions to roam Facebook in whichever fashion they choose.
This strategic move is intended to engage Facebook in a delicate balancing act. Approximately, 350m people access Facebook on their mobile devices every month and roughly half of those users access through a web browser.
The web users' count is equally divided among those who use HTML5 technology and applications configured specifically to the device specific operating, such as Apple's iOS system that is built into the iPhone or Google's Android system built into Motorola phones .
To download a Facebook app , such as a game, iPhone users will have to access the Apple app store where Apple will take its customary 30 per cent transaction fee .
